Ah, to Dream

Published by jennipps at 9:05 pm under Creativity, Exercises Edit This

Daydreaming.
Wool-gathering.
Staring into space.

It doesn’t matter what you call it, contrary to popular belief, daydreaming is not a waste of time.

It is where we get some of our best ideas.

Try some directed daydreaming.  Get a pen and paper or sketchpad.  Sit down for a specific time (maybe just five minutes).  Set a timer if you need to.

Go ahead.

Daydream.

You have permission.  It’s a creativity exercise.

Write or draw as you see fit during that time.  Or do your writing/drawing after the timer goes off.

What did you come up with?
