Should You Hide Your Sources?
In browsing a quotations site, Quotations Page , I found this quote:
- The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.
Albert Einstein
I disagree. Then again, if I think someone is genuine, I’ll share all of my sources with them.
To me, the kind of thinking exemplified by this quote encourages hoarding and suggests that creativity is open to only a few select people.
My theory is that everyone is creative. If they’re just getting started, sharing sources with them benefits both people. Hiding your sources reinforces a mistaken belief many creatives have that they’re not good enough. Don’t be party to encouraging such a negative belief.
